The travel sector is in a state of continual evolution, and one particular company is garnering attention for its fresh take on luxury travel. Garry x Olivia, a black-owned travel enterprise headquartered in New York City, is leading the charge with its dedication to crafting culturally immersive and socially conscious travel experiences without compromising on luxury. The company is actively forging partnerships with local businesses, artisans, and nonprofits across various destinations worldwide. Through these collaborations, Garry x Olivia endeavors to offer travelers opportunities to deeply connect with the essence of each location, support meaningful causes, and positively impact communities while exploring the globe. Their approach transcends conventional tourism enrichment, emphasizing responsible and sustainable travel practices that distinguish Garry x Olivia from other luxury travel providers.

“Travel is not just about visiting places; it’s about connecting with people, immersing yourself in different cultures, and making a positive impact”

— Juneann-Olivia George, Co-Founder and British-Guyanese Serial Entrepreneur

grounded in these principles. Among their signature offerings are Metem CouCou, an exploration of African Diasporic culinary traditions; Black Girl Retreat, a tailored retreat for black women; Mother Daughter PowHer, a curated bonding experience for mothers and daughters; and Liv la Vie, a bespoke ultra-luxury travel journey.

Founded by Garry Grissom and Juneann-Olivia George, two rising figures in the luxury travel sector, the duo recognized the dearth of diversity, representation, and socially mindful offerings within luxury travel. As passionate globetrotters themselves, they often found themselves torn between socially responsible experiences and luxurious indulgence. Witnessing this gap, they identified the need for a travel entity that fused opulence with authenticity and social consciousness. This epiphany spurred them to establish their own travel enterprise, dedicated to delivering the epitome of both realms.

The founders are enthusiastic about introducing their distinctive vision to the luxury travel arena. They are confident that their venture will resonate with travelers seeking to merge luxury with purposeful engagement in societal and cultural realms.

“Travel is not just about visiting places; it’s about connecting with people, immersing yourself in different cultures, and making a positive impact,” says George, Co-Founder of the company and a British-Guyanese Serial Entrepreneur. She continues on by saying, “We believe that luxury travel should be a transformative experience that allows our clients to not only indulge in opulence but also give back. Our mission is to create exceptional experiences that allow our clientele to discover, enjoy, and contribute to the destinations they visit. With our commitment to embedding social responsibility in everything we do, we are redefining travel for a new generation of adventurers.”

Most recently, George spearheaded a delegation of more than 300 individuals to Ghana in partnership with The Adinkra Group, organized through her involvement with Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., as part of a Birthright Journey Experience. During their time in Ghana, the organization left a significant mark by contributing over 1 million Ghanaian Cedis to community impact initiatives and injecting more than 36 million Ghanaian Cedis into the local economy.

Garry x Olivia transcends being merely a travel company; it represents a movement. Grissom and George are committed to reshaping the luxury travel narrative, fostering inclusivity, and promoting social responsibility. With their distinctive and genuine offerings, Garry x Olivia is leading the charge towards a more meaningful and sustainable travel industry.
